The Best Italian Food: Pizza Margherita – By Valentina Coppola


Pizza is one of the most famous food choices in the world. Everybody loves it! All around the world, cooks have tried to make different types of pizza but there’s just one original pizza: the Italian one. 🙂

Pizza was invented in 1889: The creation of pizza was commissioned to he cooker Raffaele Esposito in honour of the visiting Queen Margherita in Capodimonte. He created three different kinds of pizza but the Queen strongly preferred the one with the colours of the Italian flag: red (tomato), green (basil), and white (mozzarella).

Here is the original Italian pizza Margherita recipe:

Ingredients

1 kilo of flour

1/2 cube of yeast

200 ml water

a little bit of salt

mozzarella

tomato sauce

Instructions

Well, you need a large bowl to put the flour, a bit of salt and don’t forget to make a hole in the centre. Meanwhile, pour the yeast in 200 ml warm water and then add that to the bowl. Using a fork, bring the flour in gradually from the sides and swirl it into the liquid. Use your hands to bring the dough together in the bowl. Let the dough rise while covered for an hour.

In the meantime, cook your tomato sauce and cut the mozzarella (or another kind of cheese).

When the dough is ready, grease a cookie sheet with oil and roll out the dough. Then put the tomato sauce, mozzarella, oil and if you have fresh basil on top.

Turn on your oven to 180 degrees and let it cook the pizza for about half an hour.

Your delicious pizza Margherita is finally ready! Have a good meal! 🙂
