How Much is Too Much?! – By Dalia Al Saad

Is there such a thing as “too much” when it comes to giving?

We always hear of those pure loving souls who enjoy giving for the sake of giving. They persistently continue to do so till they finally get to enjoy its fruits. Others may not see those “fruits” as a blessing in return, but that’s a matter of perception.

What one may see as a special gift many others might not even notice.

But would that alter your innate trait to unconditionally give? Would that make you rethink and reevaluate your approach to life and gradually turn into an unfamiliar person .. even to yourself??

Well, I came to believe in this new conviction.

Naturally, you would expect your close loved ones to appreciate what you constantly give, but you shouldn’t necessarily expect that from others.

Give for the sake of giving…

In your mind, you should reach this state of peace where you no longer seek external gratification in order for you to feel good about yourself and thus feel fueled up to give even more. Instead, search for a deeper sense of peaceful joy from within. A sense of peaceful joy that makes you feel content for being the sweet, good person that you’ve always known.

This lead me to think: “What has been my objective to giving for all these years?”
Was it to receive appreciation from others, to make a positive change in their lives, or to just be yourself no matter what?

Surely, your motive can be a combination of various things, but will they make you become more self oriented or an altruistic, selfless member of the human race?

Just to be crystal clear here, no one is saying that this is an easy task. On the contrary,  it’s one of the most difficult challenges that only a few can overcome. It takes a lot of daily training to master this mindset. Every day and sometimes with every incident, you’ll need to remind yourself about your cause.

Be sure that sooner or later you will be rewarded for your good deeds and giving nature. I found that this is how things work in life. In return, you’ll be given the most precious and invaluable gift: The gift of true love! Something that neither money nor powerful positions could ever buy..

The question is: Will you expect this reward to come from the same people whom you’ve been good to, or will you have the clarity of mind and soul to see the real picture?
Love, care, aid, respect, appreciation, and in some cases, job opportunities, money, and status rushing towards you from unexpected sources.

Remember this: Without God’s blessings showering us, all of these rewards would either perish or be wasted leaving you feeling so empty.

Dear giver, bless you for what you’ve done, for what you’re doing, and for what you wish to do. Bless your giving soul 🙂
